The Education Commission fosters the spiritual growrh of our entire parish community by supporting all aspects of education in the Cathotic faith and values.
St. Agatha School Misslon Satement: As an intimate part of the parish, St. Aqatha Catholic School fosters academic excellence and spiritual, emotional, and social well-being for the students and families. In fellowship with parents and community, St. Agatha School is dedicated to nurturing enthusiasm for learning and love of God to help each student reach his or her full potential for the good of all.
School Board
The School Board develops the policies that govern the operation of St. Agatha School. In developing school policy, the School Board seeks to promote and support an environment that provides for the propagation of the Catholic faith and values, for the academic excellence, and provides for the development of every student's unique abilities. Members of the School Board include the pastor, the school principal, Home and School Association President, past School Board president and nine other elected persons who are either registered parishioners or whose children attend St. Agatha School.
Home and School Association (HSA)
The HSA strives to enrich the Catholic school experience for the students and families of St. Agatha School by providing volunteers and funding for supplemental progams, fun activities and classroom equipment. Some of the event and programs sponsored by the HSA indude: Artists in School, Volunteers in Education, Ice Cream Social, Uniform Sale, Annual Magazine Sale, Youth Safety Education Program, Pancake Dinner, Cake Bingo, Wildcat Auction, and Staff Appreciation Luncheons. Monthly meetings are held every third Wednesday evening in the school library. All interested parishioners are welcome to attend these monthly meetings and to volunteer for the many events and fundraisers sponsored by the HSA.
Athletic Association
The Athletic Association operates the parish athletic program for all children in first through eighth grades. All children of the parish are offered the opportunity to play and to learn team skills they will use all their lives. Coaches, concession crew, equipment and facility maintenance crews and administrators are all recruited and organized by this committee.
Adult Faith Formation
Adult Faith Formation plans and offers programs to encourage all parishioners to pursue their own spiritual growth. Adult education classes are offered to provide a setting for learning and discussion of such topics as leadership, church history the papacy,modern theology and vocations in the church.
Youth Ministry
The Youth Ministry, also known as the Transformers, provides all high school-age parishioners a way to grow in their faith. Weekly meetings and activities indude worship, study of the Bible and the saints, and service to others. The Transformers also meet with high schoolers from other parishes, both during the school year and on diocese-sponsored retreats during the summer months. The Youth Ministry also includes a subcommittee of dedicated parent volunteers who support the Youth Ministers in planning and providing chaperones.
Parish School of Religion (PSR)
The PSR Committee coordinates the education of children from preschool through eighth grade who do not attend parochial school. Classes are offered each Sunday from September through early May to educate children about their Catholic Faith and to encourage spiritual growth and prepares youth for sacraments of the Church. This program relies on the many volunteer teachers and aides who generously share their time and knowledge of our faith with the children of our parish.
Children's Liturgy of the Word
The Lirurgy of the Word is a young child's level is offered Sunday during the 11 am Mass to children ages four through first grade. The children who parcicipate in this program hear the Gospel and do a small activity to reinforce the Gospel message.
Sunday Child Care
The Sunday Child Care Committee coordinates a co-op style child care program for pre-school children during the 11 am Mass, so parents of very young children may still fully panicipate in the Mass.
Vacation Bible School
The Vacation Bible school Committee creates and sponsors a week-long program in June of each year for children ages four to ten. The program utilizes crafts, songs, and play as a fun way to learn about our Lord.
