THE ADULT CHOIR, under director, John Oelrich, is a group of dedicated individuals who lead the assembly in sung prayer at the 11:00 a.m. Mass on Sunday, as well as Christmas Eve, Holy Week, Easter, and various Holy Days from September until June. Membership is open to all who desire to praise the Lord with song. Rehearsals are held on Mondays from 7:15-8:30 p.m. High School students are welcome.
CANTORS: Each Mass at Saint Agatha relies on the talents provided by the Cantor. This group proclaims the Responsorial Psalm and Gospel Acclamation at weekend Masses and encourages congregational singing throughout the musical parts of the Mass. These individuals are trained in this important ministry and are each scheduled to sing at approximately 2 Masses a month.
CHILDREN’S CHOIRS provide young singers with the opportunity to participate in the ministry of music. The choirs sing approximately once a month including Christmas. We have three Children’s Choirs at St. Agatha. Students in kindergarten through 2nd grade rehearse on Wednesdays from 3:10-3:40 p.m. Students in grades 3-5 rehearse on Mondays from 3:10-4:00 p.m. New this year is our Middle School Choir which is open to students in grades 6-8 and rehearses every other Monday from 6:00-7:00 p.m. Children who are interested in becoming cantors work with the Choir Director to prepare for this special ministry.
HANDBELLS: This group of ringers provides music for various liturgies including regular weekend Masses, Christmas Eve, Easter, and other various Holy Days. This ministry requires a group effort and a dedication to weekly rehearsals, as each member is vital to the group. Handbells rehearse on Wednesday nights from 7:15-8:30 p.m.INSTRUMENTALISTS enhance various weekend liturgies as well as the Christmas and Easter Masses with their musical talent. This ministry is open to those who have studied a particular instrument and are willing to play as a soloist or as part of a group during Mass. These musicians have no regular rehearsal time and may contact the music director for more information.
