Social & Community Life

SOCIAL ACTIVITIES COMMITTEE

The Social Activities Committee meets once a month to plan an array of fun social events to build a sense of community among our parishioners. Do you have ideas for mixers and parties you would like to see at St. Agatha? Come and join us! Throughout the year, the Social Planning Committee organizes the Mardi Gras party and Pasta Dinner. New members are always welcome. Monthly meetings are usually held on week nights in a fun and casual atmosphere. Contact the rectory, 488-6149, if you are interested.

Golf for Women

SCOUTING

BOY SCOUTS AND CUB SCOUTS

St. Agatha Parish has a strong Scout program. Cub Scout Pack 298 is a year-round family program designed for boys who are about 7 to 10 years old. Parents and leaders work together to achieve the purposes of Cub Scouting. Cub Scouts participate in many fun filled activities such as camping, hiking, field trips, Pinewood Derby, picnics, service projects and sporting events. The Cub Scout Pack meets once a month and boys meet twice a month in smaller dens. Boy Scout Troop 298 is a year-round program for boys around ages 11-17. Through the Boy Scout program, young men can achieve the core objectives of strengthening character, personal fitness and good citizenship. The Boy Scout Troop meets weekly, and once a month plans a camping or high adventure activity. New members are always welcome. Call David Schirtzinger, 488-8658, for more information.

GIRL SCOUTS/BROWNIES/DAISIES

Girl Scouts at St. Agatha provides a great opportunity for girls to get involved by making friends and learning how to make a positive impact on their community. They are involved in many programs and activities related to community service, science, art, and outdoor activities. The goals set for the girls are accomplished by participation in service projects, attendance at regularly scheduled troop meetings, and various other adventures. Membership is open to all girls at different age levels: in Kindergarten we offer Daisy Scouts, grades 1-3 offers Brownies, grades 4-6 presents Juniors, and grades 7-9 are Cadettes. All the St. Agatha troops are registered with The Seal of Ohio Girl Scout Council through the Upper Arlington Service Unit. Girl Scouts is committed to helping girls grow strong. Contacts are Autumn O’Brien, 488-6357, and Karen Spain Blunk, 481-7805.

Welcoming Committee and Newcomer’s Brunch

The purpose of this committee is to help new parishioners and families feel welcomed to St. Agatha parish and encourage participation in parish activities. Committee members bring newly registered parishioners together in a social and informative setting by hosting a brunch in the Spring and Fall of each year. Meetings are scheduled two to four times each year. Interested parishioners participate in a number of different tasks from planning the brunch, to preparing food for the brunch, to attending the brunch, as well as being a friendly contact person for our newest parishioners. Contact Nancy Rague, 529-0225, for more information.
